Princess Cruises Coral Princess sailed into Brisbane on June 7 to begin her inaugural season. The 2000-guest ship is the first to homeport at the new state-of-the-art Brisbane International Cruise Terminal (BICT) and the first Princess Cruises MedallionClass vessel to call Australia home.

According to Princess Cruises’ Senior Vice President Asia Pacific, UK, and Europe, Stuart Allison, the Coral Princess would be a boon to the Queensland economy. It is anticipated to inject an estimated $60 million in crew and passenger spending, ship supplies, and port charges.

The ship offered 11 cruises departing Brisbane between June and August before returning for another ten cruises through November. The MedallionClass® ship will make 48 calls to Australian ports this year, including her first visits to Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays, Cairns, and Port Douglas.

“Our clients have been eagerly waiting for a cruise ship to be homeported in Brisbane, and to see Coral Princess here today is another great step forward for the cruise industry,” said Dan Russell of Australian travel agency Clean Cruising following the announcement. “We thank these guests and all the cruise guests far and wide for their patience as we restart cruising in Australia.”
